Employee Wellbeing Programs for Inspired Workplace
Introduction
Employee
wellbeing is not only physiological or mental ill health but also it is about optimizing
the health of all employees in the organization. Employee wellbeing also
extends beyond health into happiness and job satisfaction (Short, 2018).
According to the methodology for assessing employee wellbeing PROWELL, there are seven major components of employee wellbeing in the workplace, which fall into three domains such as mental, physical and social wellbeing. However, many people associate wellbeing with physical health only while wellbeing is much more than that (Martic, 2020).

Importance
of employee wellbeing programs
Employee wellbeing programs
have multiple benefits, both for the organization
and the employee. These programs do have a
strong impact on employee retention and have a powerful influence on keep
employee loyal as well. Employee morale is a huge factor in the success of
any business and a good wellbeing program helps employees be happy and healthy.
Encouraging and helping employee to
stay healthy have a direct, tangible
effect on the productivity and profits of the company (Aldana, 2021).
Employee wellbeing programs are initiatives implemented by organizations aimed at maintaining and improving their employees’ health and overall wellbeing. There are many different types of employee wellness programs (Zojceska, 2019). Some employee wellbeing programs include:
· Ensuring healthy lunches and snacks
· Buying wearable activity trackers for its employees
· Providing onsite gym services and fitness centers
· Offering preventative health screenings
· Stress management awareness programs and workshops
· Creating nap rooms
Globally, Google has introduced a career
site called “How We Care for Googlers” as a textbook for effective employee wellbeing. Google has schemes designed to
help their employees spend as much time as possible with their families, such
as generous parental leave policies and retirement savings plans. There are canteens
to serve healthy and nutritious meals. Everywhere can see plant life and every
space is flooded in natural light. Gyms and onsite fitness centers,
physical therapy, and massage services are freely available for all employees
(Munns, 2021).
In Sri Lankan context,
Sri Lanka Telecom is providing medical tests scheme “Suwatha” annually based on
gender and age groups to its employees. With the recent pandemic management has
arranged PCR Testing camps at company headquarters for any voluntary employees
those who wish to get themselves tested for COVID-19. Further, awareness
programs like “Stress Management and Positive Thinking” are being conducted by
Health and Safety Division to create a healthier and satisfied workforce.
Conclusion
A good wellbeing program will help employees
to achieve their physical, emotional, and psychological needs. When employees
achieve their goals, they are also helping to achieve organizational goals. Employees
who take part in employee wellbeing programs are healthier and satisfied with their jobs.
As a result, they are more
engaged and productive, for greater profits for
the company.

in Addition to that SLT annually held the Sport festival to increase the Employee satisfaction and identity the talented staff members across the company.its a good step for maintain the health condition also.

ReplyDeleteCompanies have been struggling to embrace employee wellbeing in the workplace for a long time now. Historically, wellbeing initiatives were considered as not so important, and they were not a priority for many employers. However, things are changing. As these challenging times are having a significant impact on employees’ wellbeing, this is a wake-up call for many employers to consider investing in wellbeing initiatives.
